2. HENRY HANS KARL FREDERICK² WESTERMAN (KARL¹ WESTERMANN) was born June 17, 1892 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and died February 23, 1947 in Los Angeles, California. He met ELLA ANINA OBERG Private, daughter of CARL OBERG and JULIA JENSEN.

Notes for HENRY HANS KARL FREDERICK WESTERMAN:

Henry came to U.S. In 1912. Joined Army 1917 and received automatic citizenship. Joined in Monterey or L.A. California. Discharged 1919 in CA. Enlisted same time as David Stocks, they were friends. Henry was a male nurse, Stocks was ambulance driver. Henry had $25.00 in his pocket when he landed in New York. Slept in Central Park several nights. He did not speak English. Employment office sent him to farm in Wisconsin or Minnesota. Worked as a dairy farm hand for board and room. Learned English language and left for California and went to work in Taft. After he was discharged he returned to Denmark. Thrown in jail for avoiding Danish army. Returned to States and sent for Ella Oberg. Ella arrived 11/06/1922 and they immediately married and left for Waynesville, Ohio. (Story of minister and white slave ring) In 1928 Henry moved to Dayton where Henry worked at Delco. Henry received his army bonus in 1932 and purchased a small farm in Waynesville. Children born in Ohio. (See childrens cards) The Westerman family moved to Los Angeles in 1936. Note that in Denmark Westerman was spelled Westermann. Henry died February 23,1947, buried in Angelus Abby, Compton, California.
